Building enduring Canadian businesses.

Your business. Its next chapter.

We acquire and grow Canadian businesses.

A transition shaped around your goals.

You’ve invested more than capital in your business. A sale needs to consider your timing and future role, alongside the people and relationships in the business.

What would a sale mean for you?

We start by understanding your business, your priorities and what you want from a sale. From there, we can discuss whether ECP is a fit and what a transition could involve.

You don’t need to have decided to sell to start a conversation. We can discuss your timing, the questions you are weighing and what preparation for a future sale could involve.

You may step away, stay involved or retain an ownership interest. The right arrangement depends on you, the business and the specific transaction.

We welcome introductions from business brokers and advisers, and work within the process you and your adviser have established.

Building the business with its people

We build on the people, relationships and capabilities that make your business successful. With leadership, we work alongside the team on commercial priorities, operating processes and financial planning, and stay involved through implementation.

A transition that supports your next step

Whether you want a complete exit after an agreed transition period or a continuing role, we plan the transition around your goals and the needs of the business.

How a transition could work

  1. Start with a conversation

We discuss your business, your goals and your questions about a sale.

  2. Understand the business

Together, we review the finances, operations and leadership needs to understand what a successful handover requires.

  3. Agree the terms and transition

We propose a price and terms. If we agree to proceed, we complete a detailed review with you and your advisers and agree the transition plan.

  4. Complete the sale and transition

We complete the sale and put the transition plan into action, transferring knowledge and responsibilities.
